The French newspaper “L’Équipe” has reported that OGC Nice has joined the race to sign Egyptian Al Ahly defender, Mohamed Abdelmonem, during the current summer transfer window.
It has become clear that Abdelmonem is on his way out of the Red Castle, with various European offers received in recent weeks.
The first offer came from Bologna, who see the Egyptian defender as the second option to sign if they fail to sign German defender Mats Hummels, to replace Ricardo Calafiori.
Now, “L’Équipe” reports that Nice has made Abdelmonem their primary target to replace Jean-Clair Todibo, who is expected to leave for the English Premier League in the coming days.
Al Ahly welcomes the sale of the 25-year-old if they receive a suitable financial offer, knowing that Mahmoud El-Khatib’s administration has already secured his replacement by signing Youssef Ayman from Al-Duhail.
Mohamed Abdelmonem’s transfer fee is not expected to be high, as his contract with Al Ahly ends in the summer of 2025, so he will leave now and bring in some money instead of leaving for free next summer.
