Press reports revealed the reasons why Egypt national team coach Hossam Hassan refuses to rely on Sam Morsy despite the player’s remarkable brilliance in England recently.
Morsy had recently said that he does not think he will play for Egypt as long as Hossam Hassan is the coach, because the coach has never contacted him and it seems clear that he is out of his calculations.
According to the reports, Hossam Hassan wants to lower the average age of the Egyptian national team, and prefers to give the opportunity to young players instead of Morsy, who is 33 years old.
The second reason for excluding Morsy from the “Dean’s” calculations is the fact that the language barrier is the player is only fluent in English, while the Egyptian technical staff speaks only Arabic.
Hossam Hassan settled on the fact that the pivot position in Egypt is already full with the presence of Marawan Attia, Ahmed Nabil Kouka, Mohamed Shehata and Nabil Emad Dunga, and there is no need for a new element that is difficult to communicate with and is old.
It is worth noting that Sam Morsy has been one of Ipswich Town’s stars in the last two years after contributing to the team’s promotion to the Premier League, and now he is the team captain and is performing at a very high level.
Morsy participated with the Egyptian national team in the 2018 World Cup in Russia, and his last call-up to represent the Pharaohs was in September 2023 during the period of former coach Rui Vitoria.
