The last few hours witnessed an Egyptian diplomatic intervention to resolve the crisis of the Zamalek trio, Nabil Emad Dunga, Mostafa Shalaby and Abdel Wahed El-Sayed.
The trio was brought before the Emirati judiciary on Wednesday in the case of the assault on the security director of Al Nahyan Stadium, where the judge issued a decision to postpone the trial to October 29.
The decision included that the trio continue to be detained in one of the departments of Abu Dhabi until the urgent trial next week.
However, after diplomatic interventions, it was decided to bring forward the trial date to Thursday urgently, in the hope that the story will end with the end of the Super Cup and the trio will return with the team to Cairo.
Zamalek officials made great efforts to try to release the trio, and despite the announcement of reconciliation with the victim and the payment of a fine of 600 thousand dirhams (9 million pounds), the case is still pending before the judiciary.
There is a glimmer of hope that the trio will be released before the match on Thursday, although it is unknown at the time whether they will be allowed to be present at the stadium or whether they will be deported to Egypt.
It is noteworthy that the trio assaulted the security director of Al Nahyan Stadium after the end of the Pyramids match in the semi-finals. They were allowed to return to the hotel and then summoned on Monday to the police station, where they were detained until a final decision is issued by the court.
