UEFA announces good omen for Real Madrid in City match

UEFA has assigned French referee Clement Turpin to manage the Real Madrid and Manchester City match in the Champions League Round of 16 play-off.

Perhaps this news is a good omen for Real, as the royal club has never lost in any match that Turpin has managed in various European tournaments.

Turpin was the one who managed the Real Madrid and Liverpool match in the 2022 Champions League final, and in total he managed 7 matches for the Merengue, winning 6 of them and drawing once.

Turpin’s record with City is much less, as he managed 4 matches for Pep Guardiola’s squad, City won only twice, lost once and drew once.

Turpin is considered one of the elite referees in Europe in the last 5 years, and with his presence, the influential refereeing errors will likely decrease greatly in a summit of this kind.

It remains to be noted that the match between City and Real will be next Tuesday at the Etihad Stadium, and a week later they will meet at the Santiago Bernabeu to decide the identity of the team that qualifies for the round of 16.
