Fede Valverde kept his team Real Madrid’s hopes of competing for the Spanish League title alive after scoring a goal that led the Merengues to victory over Athletic Bilbao in the 32nd round of La Liga.
The score was tied at 0-0 until the 92nd minute, when Valverde received the ball inside the penalty area and fired an unstoppable volley.
Valverde’s goal was the fourth-latest goal to give Real Madrid a home win in La Liga in the 21st century.
This goal saved coach Carlo Ancelotti from being sacked, as reports before the Bilbao match indicated he would be sacked if he slipped up at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday.
