What is the truth about Egypt’s negotiations with Renard?

The Egyptian Football Association denied rumors about the existence of negotiations with the famous coach Hervé Renard to take over the training of the Egyptian national team after the end of his journey with the French women at the end of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The famous French journalist Santi Aouna had said that Renard had an offer worth up to $2 million annually to coach Egypt after the Olympics, which conflicts with the presence of Hossam Hassan in the leadership of the Pharaohs and with a contract extending until 2026.

According to a source from the Egyptian Federation who stated to the media, Ona meant the old interest of the Egyptians in contracting with Renard before the appointment of Hossam Hassan, and that there is no interest or negotiations now between Egypt and the former Saudi national team coach.

Indeed, Egypt entered into negotiations with Renard after the dismissal of Portuguese Rui Vitoria, before everyone was surprised overnight by the decision to appoint Hossam Hassan, even though all indications at the time confirmed that the new coach would be a foreigner.

In any case, the Egyptian Federation confirms its great confidence in Hossam Hassan’s work and that he will remain in his position until the 2026 World Cup, especially since the results serve this matter at the present moment.

It is noteworthy that Egypt, with Hossam Hassan, beat Burkina Faso 2-1 in the World Cup qualifiers, then tied away from home with Guinea Bissau, and is now preparing for the start of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers journey starting next September.
