It seems that Barcelona’s return to playing at its historic stadium, Spotify Camp Nou, will not be soon, according to confirmations from the Spanish media.
Camp Nou has been undergoing comprehensive development since last season, which forced the Catalan club to play its matches at the Olympic Stadium Lluís Companys.
The initial date for returning to the Catalans’ historic stronghold was November 2024, but construction work has not been completed, so this date has been postponed to February 2025.
Now the newspaper “Sport” confirms that Barcelona will not return to Camp Nou in February either, as the stadium is not yet ready to host matches.
The Barcelona administration is currently considering returning to Camp Nou in mid-March, and playing even under construction, but this would hinder the speed of completing the stadium.
The trend for Joan Laporta and his entourage is for Hansi Flick’s squad to continue playing matches this season at the Olympic Stadium Lluís Companys, unless “a miracle happens”.
Barcelona were supposed to play their Champions League last 16 matches at Camp Nou as promised, but it can now be said that the idea is impossible except in the event of a miracle.
