Spanish media reported that the Barcelona administration has identified 3 names to choose one of them to succeed Xavi Hernandez as coach of the team next season.
Catalan President Joan Laporta decided to dismiss Xavi at the end of the current season, following what the coach said that Barcelona was unable to compete with the major clubs and Real Madrid.
According to the newspaper “Sport”, the current closest option to succeed Xavi is Barcelona’s reserve coach Rafael Marquez.
There are two other nominated names, the first is German Hansi Flick, between whom negotiations took place recently with Barcelona before Xavi was announced.
The other name is Porto coach Sergio Conceição, whose future with the Portuguese club remains ambiguous after the arrival of Andre Villas-Boas to the presidency of the Dragao.
In recent hours, a fourth name has emerged, namely Thomas Tuchel, after the German coach announced that he will not continue with Bayern Munich and will leave at the end of the current season.
It is assumed that an agreement will be reached within a short time from now on the identity of the new coach, in light of what is said that Laporta will announce the dismissal of Xavi on Sunday after the match with Rayo Vallecano.
