Why did De Bruyne back out of a move to the Saudi Pro League?

The Daily Star claims that Kevin De Bruyne has reversed his decision to join the Saudi Pro League, despite having a deal in place with Al-Ittihad. According to the report, this was due to family reasons.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that De Bruyne will remain at the club next season, following numerous rumors suggesting a possible departure.

The report states that De Bruyne was set to earn £1 million a week in Saudi Arabia, making him one of the highest-paid players in the world. However, his Belgian wife intervened and convinced him that the family’s best interests were served by staying in England rather than moving to Saudi Arabia.

Both De Bruyne and his wife had concerns about disrupting their eldest son Mason’s education, as he would need to change schools if they moved to Saudi Arabia. As a result, they decided to stay at City for at least another year.

While this summer’s deal has fallen through, it does not mean that 32-year-old De Bruyne has closed the door on a move to the Saudi Pro League. The situation could change next year, given the significant interest from Saudi Arabia.

However, the option of renewing his contract with Manchester City remains strong. De Bruyne continues to enjoy the trust of the English club’s officials, despite suffering numerous injuries in the past year.
