Liverpool manager Arne Slot has ruled out Reds star Mohamed Salah from the FA Cup fourth round match against Plymouth.
The Dutchman’s decision has raised many questions, especially since some rumors have spread that the Egyptian star may be injured.
According to English media, Slot’s decision to exclude Salah from the Plymouth match comes in order to rest him after the difficult match against Tottenham last Thursday.
Salah scored a goal in the Reds’ 4-0 win to qualify for the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle, and given the pressure of the matches and the big difference in level with Plymouth, Slot saw it as an ideal opportunity to rest the “Egyptian King”.
Slot’s decision is not new, as he previously excluded Salah from the third round match against Accrington Stanley to rest him, considering that the first round matches in the FA Cup are usually within reach.
The Dutchman hopes that the 31-year-old Salah will be fully fit for Wednesday’s Merseyside derby against Everton. Salah is Liverpool’s top scorer in all competitions this season with 26 goals and 18 assists in 34 games in all competitions.
