Kylian Mbappe’s position on participating with the France national team in the match against Austria in the first round of the group stage of Euro 2024 has been decided.
The Real Madrid star has been suffering from a back injury over the past month, and he also missed more than once France’s training in preparation for the Euro after suffering a bruise during the friendly match with Luxembourg.
But as confirmed by the newspaper “L’Equipe”, Mbappe is 100% ready to participate in the Austria match scheduled for Monday at the Spiel Arena in Dusseldorf.
According to the report, France coach Didier Deschamps was the one behind resting Mbappe and not participating in the recent training sessions to prevent his injury from worsening and to be fully ready for all Euro matches.
Indeed, it seems that the plan of the 2022 World Champion runner-up has paid off, as the 25-year-old is in physical condition that allows him to participate mainly in the Austria match.
Mbappé is expected to participate as the outright striker against Austria, with Marcus Thuram and Ousmane Dembélé next to him, and Antoine Griezmann behind them.
It is noteworthy that Mbappe has been subjected to severe criticism recently due to his lack of readiness, which was explained by the player’s camp as due to how he was treated and his lack of continuous participation with Paris Saint-Germain since last February.
