Will Salah participate with Egypt in the 2024 Paris Olympics?

There have been many questions recently about Mohamed Salah’s position on participating with the Egyptian Olympic team in the 2024 Paris Olympics, especially after Trabzonspor’s statement in which the Turkish club announced its refusal to have Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet” participate with the Pharaohs in the tournament.

Clubs have the right to refuse the participation of their players in the Olympics, given that the competition is outside the FIFA agenda, and Real Madrid benefited most from this after it prevented Kylian Mbappe and his players from being with France.

According to the WIWIN website, the coach of the Egyptian Olympic team, Ruggero Micale, contacted Salah in recent weeks to find out his position on participating with the Pharaohs in the Olympics.

The first reaction from the 32-year-old was positive, but he clearly assured him that he needed to convince the Liverpool management himself, as well as the new coach, Arne Slot, to allow him to participate in the tournament.

During the past hours, Liverpool agreed to have Wataru Endo participate with the Japanese national team in the Olympics, which opens the door to speculation about the possibility of repeating the same thing with Salah, or considering that the Egyptian is one of the important stars on the team, the idea will be rejected.

In general, Micali began looking for other options to include in his roster at the Olympics until Salah informed the Egyptian Football Association of Liverpool’s final decision on whether to allow him to play or not.

It is noteworthy that Salah previously participated in the Olympics with Egypt in the 2012 edition in London, and at that time he was playing for the Swiss team Basel.
