“Sport” newspaper reported that Xavi Hernandez informed Barcelona officials that he had waived his financial dues after his dismissal from his position in recent days.
According to the contract concluded between the coach and the club, Barcelona owes 11 million euros to Xavi due to his dismissal before the end of the contract in the summer of 2025.
Xavi previously stressed that his love for Barcelona is greater than money, and that he will give up his money for Barcelona to prevent the Catalan club from entering into an economic crisis, which is what he actually did.
But at the same time, Xavi asked the Barcelona administration to pay him 2.5 million euros, which is the value he paid in 2021 to Al-Sadd of Qatar, to allow him to leave for Barcelona.
According to the latest report, Joan Laporta’s administration expressed its understanding of Xavi’s great financial sacrifice then and now, and therefore decided to give him the required amount.
The Barcelona administration reached an agreement with the rest of Xavi’s technical staff on a financial settlement, whereby they would receive the rest of next year’s salaries in order to terminate the contract between the two parties.
