Xavi is close to returning to coaching through the European giant

The Catalan network “El Nacional” reported that Xavi Hernandez is in advanced negotiations with Milan to take over the coaching of the Italian team.

Milan is suffering from a significant decline in results this season with coach Paulo Fonseca, and the latest disappointment was the goalless draw with Genoa last Sunday.

According to the report, the Milan administration is considering dismissing Fonseca in light of the Rossoneri’s modest levels and poor results, and Xavi tops the list of candidates to succeed the Portuguese.

The Catalan newspaper indicates that negotiations are currently ongoing between Milan and Xavi, and things are going positively between the two parties and an agreement may be reached soon.

At the same time, reports from the Italian newspapers say that Xavi’s news is “unconfirmed” and that it is still unknown whether Milan will dismiss Fonseca immediately or wait until the end of the season.

Xavi has repeatedly stressed that he will not work this season because he wants to take a long break from football after 22 consecutive years of work.

Perhaps this is what makes it likely that Xavi will be Milan’s coach next season, although the hypothesis of him working as a coach this season remains valid as well.

It is worth noting that Milan is ranked eighth in the Italian League standings with 23 points from 15 matches.
