Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez admitted the difficulty of his team’s task in the Champions League quarter-finals against Paris Saint-Germain, but pointed out that “history” would help Barcelona get through.
The Catalan coach meant that Barcelona is a club that has a huge history in “the two ears” by achieving it 5 times, while Paris Saint-Germain still dreams of achieving the first title despite all the huge assignments in the past decade.
Xavi spoke at the press conference for the Atletico Madrid match in La Liga about facing Paris, saying, “It is one of the most difficult competitors, but I am confident that we have enough to compete with them with full force.”
He also added, “Most likely, Paris Saint-Germain is the favorite team ahead of us because of the huge deals they have made recently.”
He concluded, “But history is on our side. We have won the Champions League many times, unlike them.”
It is noteworthy that the last confrontation between the two teams in the Champions League dates back to the round of 16 in the 2021 edition, and then Kylian Mbappe’s teammates qualified by winning 5-2 on aggregate.
In this edition, the winner of the Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain match will meet the winner of the Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund match in the semi-finals.
