Yamal: I believe in Islam and I’m healthy, so why shouldn’t I fast during Ramadan?

Barcelona star Lamine Yamal has emphasized his determination to fast during the holy month of Ramadan, noting that his good health is helping him do so.

Yamal was seen breaking his fast on the pitch during Barcelona’s Champions League match against Benfica, during which he scored a goal and assisted another.

When asked by the press about fasting, Yamal replied, “Yes, it depends on your faith in your religion. I believe in my religion, and I’m healthy enough to fast.”

He added, “I wake up at 5 a.m. to pray, and I drink something containing electrolytes because they help the body stay hydrated throughout the day.”

Regarding Barcelona’s opinion, he replied, “Fasting doesn’t affect my performance. The club is fully prepared for this and provides us with everything we need to perform at 100%.”

Catalan media outlets confirmed that Barcelona respects Yamal’s wishes, and this isn’t the first time the club has dealt with Muslim players, as it recently happened with Franck Kessie and Ousmane Dembélé.
