Barcelona star Lamine Yamal believes that Liverpool is the only club that can win the Champions League this season and is ahead of the Catalan club.
The Reds qualified directly for the round of 16 after topping the league stage with a full score, while Barcelona came in second place.
Yamal spoke in a lengthy interview with Mundo Deportivo, saying, “I think Liverpool is the only club more likely to win the Champions League than Barcelona, they took the lead.”
He also added, “I believe that Barcelona can compete strongly to win the title, we can be in the final, I am confident of that.”
As for the competition for La Liga, he said, “We have to believe that we are the best and that we are the ones who present the most beautiful football in Spain, so we have to win the title.”
He continued, “I do not want to choose to win a championship and not win another, I want us to try to win the Spanish League and the Champions League together.”
During his interview, Yamal confirmed that he will inevitably renew his contract with Barcelona, and that he has not received any big offers from Paris Saint-Germain or others as rumored, stressing that even if it happened, he has no intention of leaving Camp Nou.
The 17-year-old concluded by saying, “I owe Barcelona everything, and everything here is perfect, I am very happy, very grateful for what I find from the fans and my colleagues and everything they have given me.”
