Zamalek demands changing the referee of the African Super Cup, and CAF takes its decision

Zamalek, through its official spokesman Ahmed Salem, demanded changing the referee of the African Super Cup match against Al-Ahly, scheduled for next Friday in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

CAF had announced the appointment of Libyan referee Moataz Ibrahim as a referee for the Egyptian derby with an African character, and rumors began about his inclinations towards Al-Ahly in one way or another.

Ahmed Salem said in televised statements about the referee, “The Libyan Super Cup referee Moataz Ibrahim has been discussed on social media and there are some concerns about him.”

He also added, “We, as Zamalek Club, are comfortable with him for several reasons that do not need to be mentioned. We hope that the African Union will understand this and change the referee.”

He concluded, “All we want is complete neutrality.”

According to Arab media, CAF, despite Zamalek’s demands, decided to stick to Moataz Ibrahim continuing as the referee for the match and there is no intention to change him.
