Zamalek resorts to “Godfather” to succeed Gomez

Egyptian media reported that Zamalek’s management is currently negotiating with Christian Gross to coach the White Castle to succeed coach Jose Gomez.

The Portuguese suddenly left Zamalek to coach Al-Fateh, explaining that the capabilities do not allow him to succeed at the Egyptian club, while sources responded that doubling his salary from the Saudi club was the reason for his decision to leave.

Since then, the names nominated to coach Zamalek have not stopped, led by former Egypt national team coach Hector Cuper, and current Egypt youth team coach Rogerio Micale.

According to the latest news, Zamalek’s management has actually contacted Gross in the past hours to explore his position on returning to Mit Okba again.

In principle, negotiations are going well between the two parties, but the Swiss coach requested a 24-hour period to make his final decision to accept or reject Zamalek’s offer.

German coach Joe Zinnbauer is Zamalek’s second choice in case the contract with Gross fails, as he has good experience in the Arab region after leading Raja last season to the local double in Morocco without defeat.

It is worth noting that Gross took over the training of Zamalek in 2018 and succeeded in leading the White Knight to achieve the first African title in 16 years when he won the Confederation Cup, before he was arbitrarily dismissed by former president Mortada Mansour.
