Zamalek’s official spokesman, Ahmed Salem, denied the repeated reports about Mahmoud Bentayg’s doping sample being positive in the Al-Ahly match in the African Super Cup.
A number of players from both teams underwent doping tests before and after the African Super Cup that was played in Saudi Arabia, and reports emerged that Bentayg’s sample was positive and that he could be suspended for a long period.
When Ahmed Salem was asked about this matter, he replied by saying, “We have not received any letter in this regard from any party and there is no truth to what is being said.”
Bentayg’s agent had announced that his client would legally pursue anyone who spread rumors that his sample was positive.
The agent said in press statements, “All these allegations are false, and we do not understand the secret of this strange campaign against him.”
It is worth noting that the Moroccan player participated in the African Super Cup match as a starter and gave a distinguished performance and was one of the reasons for Zamalek’s crowning with the title on penalties after the original time ended in a 1-1 draw.
