Zizo: A 40M pound salary is too low, and I won’t do what Imam Ashour did!

Ahmed Sayed Zizo’s name has dominated the Egyptian media in recent hours after an interview with the Egyptian newspaper Al Masry Al Youm in which he discussed his future with Zamalek.

Zizo’s contract with Zamalek ends at the end of next season, and he has received a big offer from Saudi Arabia’s Neom, with a salary said to reach 170 million Egyptian pounds annually.

Zizo said, “Zamalek wants to renew my contract with an annual salary of 40 million Egyptian pounds, of which Mamdouh Abbas will bear 30 million and the club will pay the remaining 10 million.”

He continued, “At a time when the club officials want to sign Ashraf Ben Sharqi for a fee of 1.3 million dollars, equivalent to 65 million Egyptian pounds, and Samsun receives 850 thousand dollars, and Ibrahima Ndaye was receiving 450 thousand dollars from the club.”

Immediately, social media platforms were filled with criticism of Zizo, and many considered these words to be an announcement of his desire to leave Zamalek in protest of the salary.

At the same time, Zizo confirmed that he would only play for Zamalek in Egypt, saying, “I am Zizo, not Imam Ashour, I will not play in Egypt except for Zamalek.”

Some news reports have emerged saying that the interview between Zizo and Al Masry Al Youm is “fabricated” and not true, and the matter was further fueled by what the player posted on his Instagram account.

Zizo wrote, “What is happening confirms that people are suffering from emptiness, now any two people plan what they will lie to people today and how they will fabricate the news.”

He concluded, “Don’t worry, I will speak but at the right time.”
